ATR: Quick takes from Saturday (3/7) …

Welcome back to Around the Rim.  Here are some quick takes from action on March 7 …

Radford (Big South), Morehead State (OVC), and East Tennessee State (Atlantic Sun) punched their dance tickets.

Butler and Cleveland State advanced to the Horizon championship on Tuesday.  Bubble teams will be rooting for the host Bulldogs. … Semifinals are set in the Colonial, Southern, America East, MAAC, and West Coast.  The No. 1 seeds in each league are still alive – including Davidson.

Louisville won the outright Big East title, beating West Virginia in Morgantown.  That puts the Cards in the No. 1 seed conversation. …  If Michigan State beats Purdue today, we’ll say the same for the Spartans.

Bubble newsBig 10: Michigan got a huge road win at Minnesota to close 8-8 in league play.  Penn State lost in double-OT at Iowa.  The Nittany Lions may now need to avoid a Round 1 exit at the Big 10 tourney.

SEC: Florida beat Kentucky to put the Wildcats on the edge of an SEC tourney title or bust.  South Carolina clipped Georgia to avoid further damage.

ACC: Maryland lost at Virginia and ends 7-9 in the ACC.  The Terps have work to do in Atlanta.  … PAC 10:  Washington cliniched the regular-season title, and Arizona beat Stanford to stay on the cut-line. … Atlantic 10:  Rhode Island lost at home to Massachusetts to dampen their at-large hopes.  The Rams now need a long run in the A-10 tourney to get back on the right side of the bubble. … Missouri Valley:  Creighton fell into the at-large pool after a lopsided loss to Illinois State in the MVC semifinals.  The Blue Jays are right at the cut-line and will be sweating for a week.   I’ll know more after Sunday’s play finishes.

More updates Sunday night ahead of our next bracket projection on Monday.  Thoughts?  Send a Rebound – Dave the Bracketguy.
