Quick Takes: Gonzaga a Top 10 team?

Dave2015Is Gonzaga a Top 10 team?  Ultimately, that remains to be seen.  But the Bulldogs have compiled a November resume worthy of consideration after beating Florida and Iowa State in Orlando.  The Zags also own a home victory over San Diego State. Proof of team balance … five Zags are averaging double-figure points-per-game through six contests.  Another sits at nine.  Coach Mark Few keeps churning out success in the Great Northwest. Early December games against Arizona and Washington will further define GU’s non-conference profile.

Tuesday’s other Quick Takes

  • Butler added a better-than-you-think road win at Utah to its resume Monday night.  The victory completed a trifecta that includes Vanderbilt and Arizona.
  • The top of the Big East is solid, if not strong.  Take a look at the November profiles compiled by Villanova, Creighton, Xavier, and Butler.  Seton Hall has played well, too.
  • Could this be the year that Northwestern reaches the NCAAs?  Again, there’s a long way to go.  What we do know is that the Wildcats added a victory over Wake Forest Monday night in the Big Ten-ACC Challenge, which backs up an earlier win over Texas.  Their two losses – by a combined 6 points – are at Butler (2 pts) and versus Notre Dame (4 pts) on a neutral floor.

Enjoy the ACC-Big Ten Challenge tonight and Wednesday.
