Quick Takes: First Four Picks …
While the Noon tip on Thursday will always feel like the true beginning of March Madness, we’ve seen some really good First Four games in recent years. If nothing else, after a full day without any college hoops, it’s time to rekindle the fire. It’s going to be a great three weeks. The NCAA tournament rarely disappoints.
I’ll share my full bracket picks on Wednesday, with this caveat: they are for entertainment purposes only. I’m no better at picking actual tournament games than anyone else.
With that noted, here’s my Quick Takes on the First Four …
- Mount St. Mary’s over New Orleans (Tuesday)
- Wake Forest over Kansas State (Tuesday)
- NC-Central over UC-Davis (Wednesday)
- Providence over USC (Wednesday)
In recent years, a First Four winner has moved in the Round of 32. We’ll see if that trend continues. If it does, that means one of Wake Forest, Kansas State, Providence, or USC will pull an upset on Thursday or Friday – unless, of course, you believe this is the year that a 16-seed beats a one seed.
Enjoy the tip off – the Madness returns tonight.
