Quick Takes: Eyes on the Seminoles

Dave2015Eyes on the Seminoles.  Florida State added a huge road win to its resume on Monday, beating rival Florida in Gainesville behind a career-high 25 points from Terance Mann.  There are wins that stick with teams – and this one qualifies.  It also backs up a true road win at Rutgers in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

As it relates to FSU’s early profile, Florida was – by far – the Seminoles best chance for a marquee non-conference victory.  The only other game of note appears to be Oklahoma State.  Which makes Monday’s victory that much more relevant.

Other Quick takes from Monday …

  • Ohio State is a surprising 2-0 in Big Ten play after beating Michigan at home.  The Buckeyes routed Wisconsin at the Kohl Center last weekend.
  • Penn State dropped a home game to Wisconsin after opening with a road win at Iowa.  Not ideal given how mediocre the league has performed as a whole.  To end up with five or six bids, a couple middle-of-the-pack teams will have to separate.
  • Iowa dropped its third straight and now sits at 4-5 after Monday’s loss at Indiana. The Hawkeyes have lost five of six overall.  Tough start.

Tuesday, action revs up with the Jimmy V Classic in New York.  In particular, we get Villanova-Gonzaga.  Should be fun.
