QT: West Virginia breaks through; Seton Hall enters bubble

QuickTakesEventually, West Virginia was going to break through and win a Big 12 game.  The Mountaineers did just that Wednesday against TCU in Morgantown.  It ended a five-game league slide. WVU gets a chance to back it up Saturday when Texas arrives.

Let’s also note Seton Hall.  The Pirates rallied past reeling Connecticut to enter the bubble picture.  Up next: a visit from Marquette.

In the ebbs of flows of a college hoops season, Xavier absorbed a surprising loss at DePaul; XU’s first glitch in an otherwise strong season.  Georgetown arrives this weekend before a pair of potentially dangerous road trips: wounded Connecticut and desperate Creighton.

More Quick Takes:

  • Oklahoma State put Oklahoma squarely back on the cutline by knocking out the Sooners in Stillwater.  It feels like a potentially bubbly February for both schools.
  • Marquette got its revenge on Providence and moved into a protected seed position with TCU’s loss.
  • Ohio State’s losing skid reached five games at Nebraska.  Iowa arrives in Columbus this weekend, before the Buckeyes take road trips through Champaign and Bloomington.  OSU’s season might be hanging in the balance.
  • Texas AM edged Florida to give the rising Aggies a sweep of the Gators.  Let’s also note that AM’s best wins are those two against Florida and a home victory over Missouri.  The Aggies must also overcome a disastrous non-conference performance that included losses to Wofford and Murray State.  Ten of AM’s 13 wins are currently found in Quads 3 and 4.
