Seed List: Kansas moves up, Bubble gets new faces
Perhaps it was inevitable. Kansas has jumped Houston on the seed list. While one position may not seem like much, in this case, it’s huge for KU. By surpassing Houston, Kansas is in position to claim the top spot in the Midwest Region, routing the Jayhawks through Des Moines and Kansas City.
Along the bubble, Boise State added a meaningful victory over San Diego State. It could end up being a victory that solidifies a bracket position for the Broncos. North Carolina State lost a competitive game at Duke. While the result itself is fine, the loss leaves NC State with just two wins against the projected at-large field, both at home (Duke, Miami). In an odd turn of events, the Wolfpack would benefit from a late North Carolina surge – along with a win or two at the ACC tournament. NC State currently has a 2-6 mark against Quad 1.
Auburn, meanwhile, is 2-8 against Quad 1 and has slowly drifted toward the bubble, too. The difference for the Tigers includes Quad 2 victories over Mississippi State and Missouri, which would give Auburn four wins against the field. Auburn also played a significantly better non-conference schedule.
Both NC State and Auburn remain on the right side of the bubble. Forecasting an eventual slot in the Field of 68 just isn’t as clear as it used to be – especially with some significant bubble games yet to be played this week.
