QT: A few stops in Upset City

We are three days into a new college basketball season and several teams have already made pitstops in Upset City.  A handful of others nearly took the exit by mistake.

QuickTakesOklahoma lost at home to Sam Houston.
USC lost at home to Florida Gulf Coast.
Florida State lost at home to Stetson.

These are the headliners.  Elsewhere: Temple dropped a home decision to Wagner, Central Florida (UCF) fell at home to UNC Asheville, Boise State lost at home to South Dakota State, and the Kenny Payne era opened in Louisville with a one-point loss to cross-town neighbor Bellarmine.

Opening week has been anything but boring.

Those narrowly missing the unfortunate exit include nationally ranked TCU. The Horned Frogs eked out one-point victory over SWAC powerhouse Arkansas-Pine Bluff.  BYU slipped past Idaho State. It took overtime for Loyola-Chicago to outlast Fairleigh-Dickinson and Missouri gave up 91 points during a single-digit victory over Southern Indiana.

Lest we forget the nature of early-season college hoops, especially when you factor in the amount of roster turnover these days.  It’s a long season.  Many teams will have to navigate a bump or two.
