Bracketology: March and the Big East Bubble
As March arrives, the Big East Bubble is quite a spectacle. Perhaps that’s fitting. A variety of Dance tickets could be at stake when the league tournament ensues at Madison Square Garden.
Four Big East teams reside among the Last Four IN and First Four OUT in our latest bracket projection. Seton Hall, Providence, Villanova and St. John’s all have a lot at stake over the next two-and-a-half weeks. It’s unlikely all four survive until Selection Sunday. Whoever does will join Connecticut, Marquette and Creighton for some center stage Madness.
How many bid thieves will we have in 2024? Right now, Richmond and South Florida hold automatic qualifying positions. Those could hold, disappear or exchange. If Indiana State and Drake both make the Missouri Valley final each team will likely be on the Committee’s at-large board. Then there’s James Madison, whose hopes could well depend on a resurgence from Michigan State.
